This is the Commodore645.25 project.

It is the second case mod/build project I've done (the first being LEGOTron), and will probably be my favorite for a long time to come.

I got the idea for the project one night when I was fiddling with my old C64 computer and wondering whether it would be possible to rebuild the machine with modern hardware inside.

I finished this project in the fall of 2004 and have been enjoying the use of the system since.

Right now, I use the system as a mediabox of sorts. I'm using the TV-out feature on the motherboard, and though the text can sometimes be a bit small and fuzzy for doing typical word processing-type tasks, it's an excellent setup for my needs. I'm running NES and Super NES emulators and use the system as my primary DVD player and music box as well.

While the processor and integrated unichrome S3 video can't handle a lot of the complex, demanding, new games, I've found that it works just fine for emulation of my favorite old-school systems and hasn't failed yet to give me a smooth, crisp DVD picture.

I have eventual plans to add a video capture card to it so I can record TV shows without having to shell out great gobs of cash to TIVO...
